epicactus x Selenicereus spinulosus

Post by Peter A »

I crossed this two years ago, then harvested the berry and sowed the seed last May. They came up in October. (Epicactus seedlings always seem to come up in the late autumn, but survive the winter happily without watering.) I started watering a month ago, and they are growing quite well. They look like having much larger spines than either of the parents! The seed leaves give the scale.

Wow, good luck. That seedling doesn't look a very healthy colour?

No, the colour is fine. The seed leaves just have a reflective surface. If you look at the new growth you will see the colour of the whole - if I had taken it from a different angle.
