Great plants and very interesting about your cultivation of them. As Tony said, it makes sense. What temperature are they at in late winter when you give them water?

As soon as I start to get warm days with a bit of sun, maybe late February or early March. The nights may still be around freezing, but the days very quickly get quite hot in a greenhouse. As soon as nights get consistently warm they will be unhappy about water, but they are usually inflated to danger point well before then.
