Cracked eggshells

Post by rodsmith »

I watered my Conophytum vanheerdi (among others) 6 days ago and it's coming along nicely.

The ones in the above posting are Conophytum smorenskaduense. This does have a very thin dry sheath, quite unlike the egg shells on C. vanheerdei. Smorenskaduense is a rather unusual species in that the heads which are visible now are the ones which flowered at Christmas when they were very tiny and hidden within last season's leaves.

Very similar in pattern & colour but the shape is quite different.

I've just noticed that my spelling of vanheerdei is wrong. I must add a "e" to the label (or print a fresh one).
