The phrase "more money than sense" springs to mind.

Clearly I need to start listing my spare Conophytums on eBay!

Or, you could say, well done Terry; let's hope you get paid for it
I'll stick to plants which cost me ca. GBP 2.50 to buy!

On that front I know some Chinese conophytum suppliers who are looking to make an entry into the UK market. Happy to connect you folks if there is interest?

I'm totally with Tony here, well done Terry! I don't understand these 4 figure sums, but have been guilty myself of a couple of three figure purchases off eBay this year.
Mind you, I've just spent several hundred pounds fitting out a 6x8 tomato house with flooring, staging, insulation etc. to expand my collection in to. Why not put super nice plants inside?

I also have to agree with Tony. The most I've ever paid for a C&S plant is 12 Pounds (an Ariocarpus). The main reason being that I always worry that any plant I buy could be dead this time next year. For the record the Ario is still alive.

Seems a bit OTT when you are just selling some spare plants and it is not a business, you don't know what they will sell for and how about the many years spent growing them, cono's & lithops take a long time to become clumps, I think I would benefit if I run it as a business with all the heating/electric costs, consumables, water, pots, new & dead plants, compost time spent looking after them etc .
Not forgetting eBay & paypal costs, they even charge you a percent of the postage cost now, then post & packing, trip to post office.
Tina

varied collection of succulents and cacti but I especially like Euphorbia's, Ariocarpus and variegated agaves.
