Hi pvdw,
I'm in agreement with Liz, I believe this is an Aptenia. Small tightly-packed bladder cells can be clearly seen on the floppy leaves of thirsty plants and given more water the leaves will soon become turgid and shiny. It may soon completely smother the lovely little Euphorbia so don't be afraid to transfer the mesemb to another pot. It would probably also thrive planted out in your garden, if you have one. Cuttings can be taken very easily.
