I bought an Euphorbia Cylindrifolia a few months ago. A few weeks later this plant came up. I desided to let it be and see what it will become.
Well now it is flowering and I need some help with the ID please.

Re: Help with ID needed please?
It appears to be a white flowered form of Aptenia cordifolia.
Obsessive Crassulaceae lover, especially Aeoniums but also grow, Aloes, Agaves, Haworthias and a select number of Cacti.

Or one of the annual Mesembryanthemums? The genus Mesembryanthemum. It's something that flowers quickly from seed.

Chris I think you misunderstood me. There was and still is an Euphorbia in the pot. This plant germinated later on.ChrisR wrote:

Re: Help with ID needed please?
Flowers and leaves don't look like Aptenia. Leaves look like Mesembryanthemum, but flowers not much like M. crystallinum. I guess where you live it could easily be a Mesembryanthemum species most of us have never seen. Enjoy, it may be dead in a few months ...

Re: Help with ID needed please?
Here are my pictures of Aptenia cordifolia and Mesembryanthemum crystallinum. Aptenia first.
I have to say that the plant under discussion has leaves that look more like Aptenia than Mesembryanthemum. I hope the photos help to shed some light on it.
Then the Mesembryanthemum
I found the first one in Madeira, growing close to the beach and the second in Porto Santo, inland.I have to say that the plant under discussion has leaves that look more like Aptenia than Mesembryanthemum. I hope the photos help to shed some light on it.

Re: Help with ID needed please?
I also think it is Mesembryanthemum crystallinum. If they are grown with plenty of moisture they lose that crinkled sparkly look to a large extent - seen them in the Canaries like this. Certainly not Aptenia cordifolia IMO - flowers are too big and straggly held on long stalks, leaves not quite right. After removing 5 bin bags' worth from my garden one year after planting it outside I got quite familiar with it .
Re: Help with ID needed please?
Thanks a lot for all the help. I will surf the net to get to know the plant better.
Nice to get expert advice.
