running out of space

I think I need to cut the numbers of these Haworthia hybrids, no room on the shelves and starting to run out of floor, and 100 new ones on their way, plus the wife and I were repotting today, 1 out, 6 in!!! Oh and the trays of seedling that need looking at and more seeds from to plant!!

And yes I have picked up the Gasteria

That's an easy one to solve Bill, I'm sure there must be an army of volunteers out here just waiting to take a few of those hybrids off your hands (at the right price of course), you'll soon have loads of space.

There is a genuine problem if you raise some of the Haworthia hybrids and selections from seed. I have a batch of H. mutica from 'White Widow' and you have to keep them all for quite a long time (6 or more years?) before they show their proper characteristics. Just one or two are showing white leaf blotches at 4 years old. Similarly I have pots of H. maughanii raised from Japanese and Chinese selections and once again these have to be kept for many years to see the full patterning of the leaf tips. Does anyone have tips for early selection of plants or does one just have to use lots of space and be patient?

I have just joined The Haworthia Society and looking to expand my collection of (3) plants if any are for sale? I like Gasterias too and have a Marginata and another unknown Gastetia which is growing really well and will need 're potting very soon

Does anyone have tips for early selection of plants or does one just have to use lots of space and be patient?

Not really, I had set aside a pile of what I thought were so-so plants to be traded out and was counting how many there were there when I pulled this cooperi hybrid out, didn't look this when it went in.

And as you say some can take 5,6,7 years till they show their full potential, this one started off normal green 6 years ago and each new leaf became paler than the last, it appears to have stablised now.
