Grit

Post by Cactusgirl »

I read a discussion on here a week or two back regarding grit. To say that I bought a 20kg bag of grit from a local garden centre. It is produced by Westland and is described as ' carefully selected grit between 4 and 7 mm and lime free. At £3.99 for the bag I thought this a good buy?

This is what I have been using for the past two years, excellent size and almost dirt free.

That is my standard grit too, although it is available under several different brand names (Silvaperl and Arthur Bowers). That and Clover John Innes no. 3 in 1:2 going towards 1:1 for the trickier genera are used by me for all adult plants. I don't mess around with all the clay or volcanic additives.
