In order to help formulate thoughts regarding consultation on future seed distribution, does anyone have any informed info (or informed guesswork) on how Brexit may change shipping seed overseas (and over channel!) ?

I presume that after Brexit mailing to EC countries will be the same as mailing to other non-EC European countries. There is currently free movement of seeds but the envelope has to have a customs declaration form for non-EC countries. A bit more work for new distributors. The main countries with problematic importation regulations are USA, Australia and New Zealand. China is a bit of a black box and it is difficult to know what is required for legal entry of seeds.

I asked some RHS Wisley contacts about the transitional agreement that takes us through 'till the end of 2020 and apparently there is nothing in that about reintroduction of CITES or Phytosanitary certificates for mailing of plants between the UK and EC countries. So buying plants at ELK should be OK for a couple of years.
