Lobivia Mixup, can anyone help please?

Post by Chris L »

I've been splitting up the 2016 seedlings into quarter trays over the last couple of weekends (still in the house on a spare windowsill).

There is here what might be called an "administrative error": I've got one pot with two labels - unfortunately both the same genus......

Please can any one help with which seedlings might belong to which label. I realise I might have to wait until they get a bit bigger.

Here's my attempt, where R=Rebutia haagei/pygmaea and L=Lobivia marsoneri. There are a few question marks. You'll find them really easy to tell apart yourself in 6 months.

Thanks Phil (tu). Hopefully I can carefully separate them all tomorrow, with better light and maybe a magnifying glass. They will be going in 1/4 trays and will mark with both labels again so I know later in the year to double check them when potting on/selling. If I am dealing with two genera then hopefully ( ) I should ( ) be able to tell them apart once bigger.

I have checked the number against the Mesa list and this is the line:
536.74 Lobivia haagei /17/ tiny body, salmon pink flowers

Should the label be changed to Rebutia (or Mediolobivia)? Seems to have been named in several genera I've never even heard of...... :???:

I have three pots that go in the polythene bag and some how I managed to put seeds in the same pot twice. Normally I mix the genera that go in the same bag for precisely this reason and the one time I do it wrong they are both packets of the same genus.......
