Oh The Suspense
The suspense of waiting for my first ever mesemb flower is almost unbearable.

It's an ice plant so it should feel at home! Supposed to be sunnier next week. Patience Bryan! It will happen soon.

Re: Oh The Suspense
Hi Jane,
I had to read through my books last night to see when it will likely open, apparently it's an afternoon to early evening event & I really don't want to miss it

I caught it just as it was closing yesterday, hopefully I'll catch it in full radiance today.

Re: Oh The Suspense
That's good going. I struggle with Aloinopsis and mostly stick to Titanopsis

Re: Oh The Suspense
I added limestone gravel in the soil mix & water very lightly (4-5ml) every 14 days so far it seems to work. Titanopsis look better for it too.

Re: Oh The Suspense
I don't water anything like that often, summer or winter. Might work for Aloinopsis in winter but they can be very sensitive to summer water. Left dry they look a bit sad and soft for a while, then settle into quite a firm shrunken state. A. malherbei and A. rosulata seem especially sensitive.
So having said I struggle with Aloinopsis, I do like A. schooneesii although it is quite different from the others.
