I took the plunge and went for 2-3mm pumice for offset rooting & for the young Haworthia plants I have now I've ordered some 3-5mm.
I decided it would be more sensible to get the 5-8mm when the Haworthia roots mature a bit more.

If you are ever in an IKEA they do some good general purpose pumice (it is not actually called that).

Hi FaeLLe,
I did actually look at Ikea during my search and they were out of stock in most areas at the time.

Prior to posting this topic, I had previously obtained some fine grain pumice(2-3mm) to start with and I've used that on Haworthia offsets and I'll reclaim and sterilise it once their root system has developed.

In the end I went for no sharp edges 3-5mm Bonsai pumice, at what I considered a decent price, I got 32 litres at around £1 a litre +postage.
My new grading riddle has arrived today so I shall be 'shakin my stuff' later

I'll also be using the Molar clay cat litter that Tina recommended, I'll use that for my Mesembs when I re-pot in the Autumn or if I spot any parasites in the interim.

Ikea call it 'Growing media & medium', it's on their keep clicking till you find what you're after' website.
The product is called VÄXER & it's in indoor growing accessories
