Hi, can any one recommend places to visit with a small group, which are open in 2018?
The glasshouse collections I know of are Glasgow, Birmingham, Kew, Winterbourne, Wisley, Chester Zoo.
Large nurseries I know of include The Cactus shop and Abbey Brook
Id like to consider how to make a good day trip from the Midlands.

Also I depend how far you want to go and if it's just a day trip or over night as if you were to arrange to visit Kent Cacti and Connoisseurs cacti (Mr Pilbeam) on the way back you could go to Wisley or Kew the following day

If visiting Kent then it is worth calling in to see Tom Hart-Dyke's 'World garden' - the arid house has a ton of interesting plants in there. And it would be good to met our patron, if you haven't already, as he is one heck of a character.

Thank you for your replies to date! At this stage just thinking of a small group visit for a day out from West Midlands. But if it works well may yet go further afield. My grandparents were from Wisley so I'm familiar with the gardens although I understand the arid house is new since I was last there. Kew was a favourite when I was studying horticulture years ago.
