Hello Group.
What do you use to keep record on your plants?
What type of data do you need to keep in record?
I have been using Calc (or Excel for you windows people) but have missing out the possibility to add latest photo.
Let me have your input, please

Re: Keeping Record
I also use a spreadsheet but keep a separate photographic record of my plants. My spreadsheet includes a chronological and alphabetical list of all plants, plants disposed of or deceased, record of watering & feeding, annual check on size (height & diameter), date of first bud seen. There are also tabs for seeds sown each year with the success rate and number of seedlings surviving. The spreadsheet it easy to maintain in my case as I have fewer than 200 plants.

Re: Keeping Record
I also keep an Excel file, and you can insert a link to a specific image in a folder containing photos. Insert, hyperlink, and then point to the photo you want. In the Excel file it looks like a standard hyperlink, but when you click on it you load the photo in your default jpg viewer.
I haven't done this for very many of my plants, but its on my work plan...so maybe..

Re: Keeping Record
Thank you for that input, I really appreciate it!
I have thought a lot about what is worth keeping record of.
Thank you!

Re: Keeping Record
I had a similar question a couple of years ago. Here's the thread.

I'm still using Onenote and am very happy with it. To be honest I don't use it every day but it's very handy when purchasing plants or seeds (if only I could remember all the synonyms). It does exactly what I need.
I still use excel for logging my seed germination and progress.

Re: Keeping Record
I use Openoffice Calc to keep track of all my plants, I also intend/need to setup a record of watering schedules and I'll use Calc for that too.

Re: Keeping Record
I use Google sheets for records of my plants. I record names, when purchased, price, seller, watering regime, fertilizer requirements, compost, synonyms, origin and habitat info and whatever else comes to mind. It has similar functionality to Excel but as I have an Android phone linked to my Google account I find it less bother to use Google's own spreadsheet, you can have multiple tabs etc which I use for separate lists of deceased plants, seeds sown etc. I don't have any photos or links to photos in here.
I also keep a daily log of what I do to my plants, repotting, any died, watered, purchased etc. For this I use Microsoft OneNote, I enter brief bullet point details whilst I'm in the greenhouse. I have some photos in here as well but not many.
Both be these can be accessed from anywhere with an Internet connection so I use the phone in the greenhouse and a laptop indoors.
Finally on my old iPod 4 I still use an Apple app called WhenWatered. In this you can set the date a plant was last watered and the watering frequency, it then reminds me when watering is due. You can add notes and a photo if you want but the photo is just a thumbnail so it's a bit pointless. The list can be sorted alphabetically, date last watered, date water due. It's a bit basic but I find it helps me keep track of watering schedules.

Re: Keeping Record
Spreadsheet seems to be a common tool.
This is no form of marketing, because my tool is for private use only.
I have created a giant database with hundreds of tables.
I am using SQLite3 as database engine.
Last time I tested this I made a fool of my self. This is made to run on Windows, Linux and Mac.
What do you miss out in this? Be cruel, I can take it
