FWIW I tried cinnamon this year to control fungus growth and have found it ineffective, with fungus (as opposed to algae) just growing through the sprinklings. I also found it didn't help control problems with brown fungal rot on cut surfaces of myrtillocactus grafts.
So my conclusion so far is that it may work in some situations but isn't a miracle and natural cure-all.
