British weather

Someone commented a few weeks ago that, here in Britain we don't have a climate, just weather. That's certainly been proved to be true in the last week. A week ago, every day cool and overcast, leaving me fretting that the plants are not growing, flowering or getting enough light. This week, very hot sun, up to 40C in the greenhouses, and I'm worried about scorching! Doors wide open, shading nets being found, and even signs of red spider damage on a Rebutia! Guess I'm not the only one, it stops us being bored!

Yes, you can't accuse the British weather of being predictable. Scorch is a real risk after the long dull winter weather.

........ and this was the view of the lawn by the greenhouse only a few weeks ago, crazy UK weather indeed!

We just had the warmest 19 April since they officially measured (since 1901). Beat the previous record of 1988 by about 5C...!

Moving on a week and we're back to cold, damp, overcast conditions. So temperature inside the greenhouses (shading now on) at lunchtime today was 10C and forecast to be 5C tonight. Difficult Spring to say the least.
