Echinocereus that thinks its a Mammillaria

Post by iann »

Ring of flowers, anyone? This is "Echinocereus montanus", a somewhat dubious name but a prolifically flowering form.

E. davisii is a more conventional flowers-wherever form.

This is a real Mammillaria for comparison, nice ring coming but small spineless flowers. Tiny flowers today, but they'll be more showy when they get going.

Prolific indeed, and doesn't look much like an Echinocereus in form. It'll be nice to see the flowers when they appear.

Growing a mixed collection of cacti & other succulents; mainly smaller species with a current emphasis on lithops & conophytum.
