Echincocereus
Seems very early for this plant to flower for me. Is it because it's been kept in a warmer part of the greenhouse than usual?

Re: Echincocereus
Could well be Antony, mine are only starting to wake up , sometimes with Echinocereus they start to form buds which then overwinter and only need a bit of warmth in spring, I am not familiar with that fma. de la bufa but the flowers do look like scheeri ssp. gentryi .
Beautiful flowers and plant thanks for showing them.

Got this plant from Southfields may years ago. Has been a victim of RSM but new growth is coming through. I've taken a few cuttings and are growing them on now

Re: Echincocereus
Hi Antony
Did a bit of research and E.scheeri fma La Bufa was discovered 8th February 1980 near the village of La Bufa in a ravine known as the Barranca del Cobre in the state of Chihuahua Mexico, it is usually sold under the ISI number isi 92-3 but that number is also given to E. scheeri var. koehresianus of which I do have seedlings.
So it will be interesting to see if they flower like yours.

Re: Echincocereus
Does seem a little early, but I don't have this species. The E. viridiflorus group open early, with E. davisii already in full flower. The ones kept permanently outdoors are much much later though. Other early species are budding up now.
