Are these Parodia sellowii ?

Post by kohinoor »

I bought seeds from KK and HOBBY BRNO 2017.
After 1 year of growth on graft, they don't look like Parodia sellowii.
I did a little research but can't find picture of Parodia sellowii in this age.
Maybe they just in immature stage ?

Are these Parodia sellowii ?
Any suggestion will be great.

Certainly have sharp angled ribs typical of Malacocarpus/Wigginsia (now lumped into Parodia), but whether they are sellowii I am unsure since spination is variable and the genus or group is over split like many in the Cactaceae.

See:-

http://www.cactus-art.biz/schede/NOTOCA ... llowii.htm

Possibly nearer to these:-

You may need to wait until they are a bit older and get their adult spination. If Malacocarpus/Wigginsia's they will have a Notocactus type flower.

Thanks. I did't realize sharp angled ribs is his characteristic.
I was hoping to get a Discocactus-alike variety.

Update when they are bigger.
