Re: My favourite Thelocactus
It looks like a rinconensis. Mine is just about to bloom This was my hexaedrophorus on Saturday; I love the silky sheen on the petals.

Just says rinconensis in my database. Tubercles are distinctive. Flowers are almost white but not quite.

My rinconensis bloomed today. The spines prevent the flowers from opening fully.

Beautiful Rod but those spines are wicked! Wear gloves at all times and thick ones too....Really vicious looking but sweet flowers.

Re: My favourite Thelocactus
Rod, I'm not sure if I have bigger flowers or smaller spines. My plant is in a 10.5cm pot and the flower is as wide as the pot, completely overwhelms the spines.
Picture from 2015 showing the spines better in relation to a flower. It has spines and they're pretty long but somehow doesn't look as vicious as yours.
