A yellow firework

Post by sechjoh »

I have one of this little clump of plants. It is an Echinopsis arachnacantha, or Lobivia arachnacantha var. sulphurea R.Vásquez 1974, that is grown from seeds collected by Roberto Vásquez Chavez around Valle Abajo in Bolivia. It lives in a 6 centimeter wide square pot. It flowers in daytime and have a nice scent.

Yet another form - I have quite a few plants of this species, with yellow, gold, purple, white and red flowers - but not one like yours. Very variable, but also an attractive plant in all its forms.

Yes, I like these. I had a yellow flowered and an orange flowered one but they succumbed a couple of years ago. I think I over watered, which lobivias (among others) seem to resent.
