S, S, S - Part Three

Post by AnTTun »

Another eBay seller, but probably better known to some fellow forumities because he(?) is UK based. eBay name is worldwondersgardens, sells various seeds, including some of succulent plants.. enough to tickle my curiosity even I didn't order much. Seed arrived in ziplocks ( :( ) but printed instructions were added so I give them + for that. No matter that instructions didn't really help :)

I've ordered festuca glauca (blue grass - they had it, I thought it might look good in front yard) seed which germinated fairly well but I had no success in keeping any of the seedlings alive. I was watering them more, less, keeping them under artificial light, outside in the shade, full sun.. to no avail. How about that :(

I've also ordered 3 packs of different pachypodium seed, doesn't really matter which ones because they had 0 germination. I got same result with ibervillea tenuisecta and idria columnaris.

To my surprise I got 1 (out of 6) adenia islaoensis. Not easy seed to find so I was quite dissapointed when seedling died later. Any tips on growing these from seed are highly appreciated.

Euphorbia stenoclada and zehneria scabra both did 50% (5 out of 10 seeds). Of course I forgot that many euphorbias should be taken out of propagator 'shortly' after germination so I've lost 3 of them due to fungus/rot.

I've found their seed to be good, 80% germination for Cyphostemma roseiglandulosum and 100% for Pachypodium lamerei ramosum.

Adenia seed needs bottom heat to germinate well and then let them dry out a bit between waterings very soon after germination.

Thanks Astro. But. :) But I'm very careful when it comes to rare seeds and Koehres. Some of their seed is very good, but I don't think I have any positive experience with rarities. I'll write about their seed in some future SSS post.
