My little precious

Post by sechjoh »

This is my only Aztekium ritteri and it has being grown from seed since 1994. Den är circa 3 centimeter wide and flowers every year. It bloomed for the first time in 2008 It lives in a 6 centimeter square pot and gets water every fortnight from April to October. I keep it in my sleep-window on the middle shelf where it is around 10°C all winter.
One thing I have noticed is that the day-and-night-clock is hard-coded into it. If I change the day into night it flowers in the night.

That's the impression I also have that they should be white. Do yours have white buds as well?

No, having thought more carefully, the buds (and hence outsides of the petals) are pink, but the insides of the petals are pure white.

By far the slowest cactus I've ever grown. Mine are five years old and nowhere near flowering, so I don't know what colour they'll be.
