Many on this forum I am sure have heard the dread words from a loved one/close friend - 'You like cacti don't you?' and ended up inheriting a variety of plants that are in need of lots of TLC. Well this happened to me recently and I ended up with a bunch of plants that have suffered badly at the hands (?) of RSM and mealy bug. Now clean I hope I am trying to id the plants in question but am stuck about two mamms - a genus I know nothing about.
Can any kind soul Id these two and give me a clue as to whether the growth form is normal/natural. I think the first one is a candidate for surgery whatever the answer.

Plant 2
