Currently visiting the in-laws in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. I bought two large clumps of Mammillaria beneckei for them a few years ago on a previous visit. A local roadside plant store sold them. They grew them in cow dung they said. No idea how old they are, though probably considerably younger than you'd expect from the size. They grow all year round in this climate.
Now, four years later they have grown even bigger. Anyone volunteering for the repotting job which is rather overdue?
This one has slightly nicer spination I think.
