Help identify this Euphorbia please

Post by FaeLLe »

Hi,

I recently acquired this pricey plant and was looking for someone to help me identify please.

The seller marked it as Euphorbia tenuispina but that does not seem to make any sense as I cannot find anything about that name on the internet.

I also planted this very deep (the roots are only 3/4 the of the way into the bottom of the pot at the tip of the caudex). Will that be okay? It is in pure pumice.

I did a search on Euphorbia tenuispina and came up with the following:

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=eupho ... 9&dpr=1.05

Could they have abbreviated the name from Euphorbia milii var. tenuispina (Crown Of Thorns)?

It's a bit like Euphorbia knuthii, although that has fairly regular markings, whereas your plant seems to be more mottled.

There is a species called Euphorbia tenuispinosa which is also similar - but again that too has fairly regular markings.
