Cacti pots

Post by profiler54 »

Can anyone please share a good source for cacti specific plant pots. I am in the Greater Manchester area. All my local garden centre seem to carry general pots that are too deep for a lot of cacti.

Thanks all

These are the best pots for cacti, unfortunately they are un-available at the moment.

At present I'm potting hundreds of plants into round pots from square ones. I'm weary of jamming square pots together just to get as many in as possible and it gets to the stage where you cannot really see the individual plants properly. And mealies can live happily on the sides of pots, sheltered from spray.

So, hundreds of suitable round pots needed. My local small family run garden centre sells off their used pots at 50 for £1.00 and it suits both them and me when I rummage through their bin. There's lots of half depth pots in there, highly suitable. You only have to ask!

Peter, if you have a good quantity of square 7 or 8cm shallowish pots, I'm interested...

Ralph: just a few hundred more to repot then I'll be able to audit my pots and decide what's to keep, albeit it looks like there will be a fair quantity of spare BEFs at this stage.

I continually visit a garden centre that's on it's knees and is selling off remaining stock at 50% off. Every few days I visit - Mrs T must think that I'm carrying on with the attractive young lady who works there - whilst in fact, I'm carrying out her stock of yummy grit at £2.50 a 25kg bag, six at a time to go in the boot of the old SUV. It's the best grit that I've ever found and the few bags that are now left on the pallet will be mine!

Mixed with Clover no 3, the plants perk up within days of having their roots immersed in the stuff.

What is rather sad though, are the old Cerei, Euphorbias, etc that now stand bedraggled and forlorn on the grass outside the greenhouse. They're awaiting their fate because they had to make room on the staging for all those round pots. Nobody wants large plants.
