Echinopsis Ashcott Hybrids by John White

Post by BruceM »

Hello,

I have been trying to find out some information regarding the Ashcott hybrids by John White. I believe he was active in the early 2000s and produced some very nice hybrids. I managed to buy Tangoed from Cactusshop last year, however, they could not offer any further information.

Does anyone have any of these hybrids or any further information?

It would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for the reply. I am already a member of the Swap Circle. I thought I would try here first as I found Tangoed in the Cactusshop store, I was hopeful some others may have picked some of the other hybrids up before me. Or may simply know something about the hybridiser, since he seems to have been most active around 2001/2.

There was a John White from Ashcott who advertised in the BCSS journal in the 80s:

John E. White , Ashcott , Bridgwater, Somerset T A7 9QJ. Tel. no. Ashcott (0458) 210256. Open daily except Mondays. Uncommon Succulents.

I was curious if this was the same person who created the hybrids.

Hi Bruce:
John White visited our branch in Taunton this year. He brought along some plants for sale and I too bought "Tangoed" which is lovely. I assume he is still selling at the nursery I didn't have time to speak to him.
