How do members cope with severe intrusion of Glochids into the skin.
The itch becomes unbearable at times.
Thanks.

Re: Glochids
I have heard about candle wax. Never tried it myself. I hardly have Opuntias.
But if it happens to me, I try tweezers. And where that doesn't help anymore, I just ride it out. Whatever you do, don't use your teeth to try to take them out. If they end up in your tongue or gum, it will only be much worst.

Re: Glochids
Sticky tape works.
I'm sure hair removal wax would work as well. Never tried that though.

Re: Glochids
I usually use sticky tape also and find it works well, but, with apologies to those who love them, I have mainly stopped growing Opuntias simply because of this problem.

Also, can use Blutack and Copydex to rub between your fingers.

Pumice stone. If you've ever had glochids in your tongue (as I did, wiping my face on my sleeve one hot day), you'll never forget it. Thirty years later, still gives me the eeby-jeebys when I think of it. Aaaaagghhhhh!

Re: Glochids
Try superglue ... let it dry fully and peel it off.
Or
Duct tape.
Done the Opuntia spines in mouth and nose etc but the above solutions were not suitable at the time

Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
