Introduction

Post by Bonsai2 »

Hello,
I have been interested in Bonsai for many years and have, in the last few weeks, purchased my first cactus and sempervivum. As a very new member, I was amazed to see the wide variety of species and found the breadth of knowledge on this website to be most helpful in this new hobby.
Thank you
Bonsai2 from Scotland.

Hello Paul

I am in Dalgety Bay, Dunfermline. Just started with a couple of cactus and 2 succulents. Early days?

Thanks for the welcome. I don't have a greenhouse so most of my cactus will have to live on window sills and in my shed or in the garden.

I will apply for full membership in January as I have been impressed with the content.

Hello Gerald, thank you for the welcome.

I found the under noted on the Internet:

'The cactus is a thorny succulent, and it is native to desert conditions. A collection of these small cacti can be used to create a miniature garden in a pot. ... Unlike many other houseplants, the cactus combo bonsai is easy to take care of and requires very little effort to keep alive. 6 Aug 2016.'

One of my Bonsai colleagues claims that Cacti cannot really be classified as Bonsai as Bonsai relates to trees, but the word miniature relates to cacti. Just his opinion!
