humble beginnings

Post by Astro »

Flowers start off small on this divergens v amethystina, but a few days later they've grown quite a bit. First photo was taken 9/27, second one 3 days later. The flower is still going and a bit larger still.

L divergens v divergens is quite a bit smaller than v amethystina, and the flowers are scaled similarly. Tiny flowers even after a few days (2" pot).

L amicorum is another miniature (3" pot).

Var amethystina is not easy to flower here, although it is doing well after the good summer this year. Var divergens is more polific although perhaps not the easiest one to keep alive.

L. amicorum is just a weed! It sprouts, then flowers after about 18 months. Small or not, and it isn't if you feed it well, there's no stopping it.

I find that most lithops flowers expand after the first day or two. It's almost as if they were "testing the water" at first.

Growing a mixed collection of cacti & other succulents; mainly smaller species with a current emphasis on lithops & conophytum.
