Two New Cacti To Identify.

Post by Bonsai2 »

Hello

My two new Cacti arrived today. One between 5 and 8 years, the other around 10 years old.

Could you please help identify them? The smaller one has slightly larger tougher spines than the other.

Many thanks

Possibly two different forms of Thelocactus macdowellii?

Collection mainly of cacti, though interested in a much wider variety of plants than I can accommodate!

I think the first one is Thelocactus macdowelli, but the second looks like a pale form of Thelocactus bicolor possibly var. flavispina.

1. Thelocactus macdowellii
2. Thelocactus bicolor (probably ssp. bolaensis)
