Thanks for your nice comment everyone  Should you wish to visit and meet the cactus volunteers, they tend to be around on Tuesdays and on Fridays - just ask for them at the entrance of Winterbourne House.

I am one of the helpers at Winterbourne and it has been my privilege to help there. I joined the Birmingham branch over 2 years ago and what a great group of people there, always willing to help with any questions i ask. So when we were asked if any one would like to help out with the collection at Winterbourne i jumped at it as it gave me the opportune to learn more of cacti. The small group there Gill, Derek and Arthur are very knowledgeable and helpful which has helped me learn more of this wonderful hobby. Pete.

With the sun out, I spent my lunch break at Winterbourne today. Here are just a few pictures of the arid house in spring:

There are some lovely pots of Mammillaria:

And I'd add that my dad loved going there to help look after the collection, before he passed away a few years ago. It must be about 50 years ago now that I first joined BCSS Birmingham Branch, before I moved away to study then a job. Many happy memories.
