The Blashka models are totally amazing - stunningly beautiful. There is a huge collection at the Dublin Natural History Museum, with Harvard the biggest globally, but these are of the lower forms of life or creatures that lose their beauty pickled in a jar. Intricate and colourful. I happened to be meeting someone in Dublin, arrived early and thought I'd pass some time in the museum - not knowing these models were there. I was late for my RV!

The sad thing is that they were made of a particular for of glass that will eventually become brittle and fall apart.

Hi,

I included a short article on these glass cacti in The Essex Succulent Review, June 2017.

If anyone is interested this is the link to the 2017 back issues page:

Please scroll down the page to June.

Best wishes,

Sheila

Wow, wow, wow! That's incredible....
First it was orchids, then, since c.2001, cacti and succulents. I'm into South African plants, mainly conos, lithops and haworthias, with a few cacti, especially 'posh' mamms, turbs and other smalls. Now it’s stapeliads as well...

I've seen the collection at Harvard, and they are simply amazing. If you are ever in Boston, USA, it is well worth the trip. I spent several hours there.
