Of course it must be true .......... it was in the Daily Mail!
Having derided said journal --- we did have cactus wedding favours last year

Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Re: In today's newspaper
Why bother to get quotes from BCSS, Southfields & Ubink and then fill in with a load of bovine stuff from the internet. OK, it still is good publicity but the 'Euphorbia that has never been known to flower', the 'Tuft of Copiapoa Cinerea', the 'oldest cactus - Welwitschia' which is neither a cactus nor a succulent. 'Californian clifftops plundered by cactus smugglers' - almost correct though they mean Dudleyas, and the £200K Haageocereus, The BCSS quote includes 'some of them are not much to look at' but apart from that its still publicity which will probably gain a few new members.
Stuart - not a Daily Mail reader though I quite enjoy screwing it up to use a packing when we post plants.
