Beautiful Melocactus matanzanus form

Post by James Pickering »

I really love this form with its its striped glaucous plant body. Some plants are just beginning to pop cephaliums:

Rather tasty, James. Not easy to grow them on a patio in Burnley! Mrs T and I have not very fond memories of pushing a pram up a cobbled street in a cold July when we lived nearby many years ago. Two years was enough before we too emigrated (to the warm climes of Cheshire).

And thank you Mike. No answer as to why they have taken on this aspect. They came up this way in a seed flat. All of the seedlings were like this.

Hi James
I love the pattern on these its super - very envious !!, it will be interesting to see if seedlings carry the trait. You could give them a cv name and sell em

Thanks Tina. Well I don’t sell cacti - but they will make nice gifts. I hope they keep this characteristic - I will keep you posted.

Just FYI:

All of my other Matanzanus issues have the "traditional" apple green plant bodies.
