Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.

I have a remote display in the house - at my old house I had a similar display with audible alarm (but that disappeared in the move) -- there's loads of stuff out there - and if you have a penchant for electronics there's probably a Raspberry-pi project you could buy

If you have a radio baby alarm already, any thermometer with an alarm will work by making a noise the baby alarm will pick up. If not, you need a single or dual sensor thermometer with a remote alarm, available on eBay. Very cheap, usually made in China. This one has simple buttons and doesn't have awful menus to get lost in.

First it was orchids, then, since c.2001, cacti and succulents. I'm into South African plants, mainly conos, lithops and haworthias, with a few cacti, especially 'posh' mamms, turbs and other smalls. Now it’s stapeliads as well...

Yup -realise that but I can check the display
BUT .........
My Inkbird thermostat does have an alarm --- and using other ideas posted above --- a baby monitor would pick that up!

Re: Greenhouse heating : Plan B
I have a couple of spare Parwin heaters here, and I think I have somewhere some spare heating coils or wire too (I seem to remember seeing a packet with it / them when I moved house).
If anyone is after the coils or a heatero, either for use or for cannibalising for spares, just get in touch.
One parwin has a replaced thermostat withe electronic display / controls.

Re: Greenhouse heating : Plan B
I rigged up a system based on a temperature sensor and ESP8266 board (like an Arduino with built in wifi) all for a fiver, and it sends the data to my phone via an app called Blynk. (I have a wifi point in my greenhouse). I gave some details on how it works elsewhere in the forum, and am happy to share the design / code if anyone wants to reproduce it.

Yes please for the details. Might make a suitable project.
