I am not sure, but it looks like cold damage to me. If it is, I think the plant will be allright, although marked, if you keep it warmer from now. The spots are probably hard? How cold has it been kept?

room temperature is 21 C

Room temperature should be OK at 21 degrees C, however, you need lower temperatures overnight. At least 8-10 degrees lower than the maximum temperature during the day (and under 18 degrees).

It's difficult to tell from the photo, but if this is near the base of the plant it may just be old age. Not nice to look at but not an issue for the plant's health.
