Request for photos

Post by Paul D »

Dear all,
I've been asked to give a talk on how the National Collection got established and the obstacles along the way. I've got lots of photos of nice things (flowers, healthy plants, etc!) but over the years I didn't take any photos of the bad bits (pests, rot, etc!) If anyone would be willing to let me use any photographs you have in my powerpoint talk I would be very grateful. I'm looking for photos of the following:

Mealy bugs
Red spider mite
Thrips
Vine weevils
Rotting plants
Frost damage
Scorched plants

All borrowed photos will of course be acknowledged (unless you don't want me to of course). Many thanks!

I've got some pictures of mealy bugs and snails. Happy for you to use them if you wish. (tu)

In case anyone is wondering I did very carefully prise the snail off the cactus trying not to harm the snail in any way and returned it un harmed to next doors garden.......

I can't find any pics of the weevil but I've got a couple of the grubs. You're welcome to them if they're any use to you. Let me know if you need the full size pics.

I got told a simple trick to kill vine weevil grubs in new plants, a bonsai friend always soaks new plants ( in pots) in water with detergent for 24-48 hours, very simple but effective at drowning the blighters
