Colourful spines, stripey dark purple flowers, and a grey-blue body. What a plant!

nice one!
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Lots of stuff is early here. It's probably because I couldn't resist giving them some water when we had that nice weather in February. Actually, I'm surprised myself just how much is in flower right now. The list includes

Astrophytum asterias
Most of my Turbinicarpus
Many Mammillarias
An Escobaria
A few "true" Rebutias
Matucana oreodoxa / madisoniorum
A few Echinofossulocacti
Loads of Haworthias
Some Echeverias
Most of my Graptopetalums and Pachyphytums
Some Crassulas
Some Pelargoniums
A few Eriosyces
Pleiospilos nelii
Drosanthemum aureum
A few Aloes and Gasterias
Several Bulbines
Several Schlumbergeras
Disocactus macranthus
Hatioras herminiae, bambusoides
Various Euphorbias

How old is that one Ralph? I've got one I bought as a seedling ten years ago but never so much as a bud, my uncinatus of a similar age often buds but this year looks like it will actually flower, if the bud can find it's way through the spines!

I got it from Tony Irons in 2004, and it must have been say 2 or 3 years old then, I suppose.
