Cintia

Post by ralphrmartin »

This is in flower today - but none of my Sulcorebutias are, despite this supposedly being genetically close to them.

It's labelled Cintia subterranea, although it seems to be just the same as C. knizei.

You really got a jump start on the year! I have Sulcorebutia buds, but nothing on Cintia. Will check again tomorrow in case I missed some because they come fast. I have given a little water but not pushed these because it is so early.

My Cintia was first to flower this year, about a month ago, but looks shrivelled and pale. Do you grow in sun or shade Ralph?

Mine's in the sun. In habitat they are well down in the loose rock (indeed, I failed to find any when I went looking), but it's much brighter (and higher with more UV) there than here.
