Re: Gymno.stellatum. (lost label)
All the flowers that I have labelled as stellatum have a white flower with a pink centre.
If your flower doesn't appear like that there are lots of flower pictures on my gymnocalycium page: https://cactuscorner.co.uk/gymnocalycium-2/

Nice one Chris and thanks. Your pics. on your web site are exellent. I must say, a great help to ID plants through their flowers. Cheers

There's more flat brown species than you might think, depending on how you lump them, and white flowers with a pink eye doesn't really narrow it down very much. Posting a picture would be more reliable for getting an ID. Make sure you get a good view of the body and spines, flowers an optional extra since they aren't always a big help for Gymnos.

Here you go. Gymn stellatum seedling. No way can I compete with Chris or Christer in a photo comp.lol, but one must use whatever we have be it an old iPad. An ID would be useful if possible. Cheers

Certainly in the group of Gymnocalyciums that contain stellatum (Trichomosemineum). I always remember it to have more spines though - well mine seem to.
Probably needs a flower to be sure.

Looks more "black" than brown to me? Three spines wouldn't be out of character. G. triacanthum is one obvious name in the wider group, but there are others that would be called G. stellatum.

It could certainly be G. stellatum (or one of the forms/varieties thereof). Could also be G. obductum although the spines on that one are somewhat more pectinate in my experience.
