Hi all,
Purchased a pup the other day from this plant (it was going cheap & I couldn't resist!). The seller doesn't know the ID, only that the mother plant is at least 10years old.
With so many hybrids about its always hard to know, but I think this is probably Echinopsis Oxygona, however I thought the flowers of this species had a touch of purple to them normally. I don't really mind not knowing the name, but like lots of us on the forum I have a desire to label plants correctly if I can!
Photos below of the mother plant - can anybody with more knowledge than me help confirm the ID?
Thanks,
Alex

Hi BB, sorry I can,t help you with the ID, but someone will know on the forum. It's a stunning plant in or out of flower, and a great picture too. Cheers

Amazing flowers. Have you got any idea of the age of the big plant?

Mike - the seller told me the mother plant was at least 10years old...I’m hoping it’s worth the wait if the pup ends up looking so good!

The shortness of the spines and the whiteness of the flower suggest eyriesii - but you don't mention scent. It should have a very beautiful, sweet, scent, which isn't strong close to, but pervasive at a distance enough to fill a house! If it doesn't have a scent, it is perhaps a hybrid, possibly with oxygona, which hasn't. Multiplex may be an intermediate form, less scented than eyriesii and with longer spines.
