We have a tall (1.1m not including its pot !) cactus that flowers for 1 night per flower, last year it had 3 flowers from 5 buds (2 of them aborted prematurely).
It was a short section from one that was cut down by a local garden centre about 25y ago. It had become too tall for their BIG! greenhouse and they cut it up and sold/gave away lots of bits !
It has already out-grown the window sill, and will eventually out-grow us as well
The pic on the left is three shots stuck together in the ICE panorama stitcher.
It has become an annual ritual, guess which night it is going to do its thing and sneak up on it in the dead of night with camera in hand ! The flash is a bit harsh, but it does produce a nice dark background. This year I may have to try some diffusers or something.
It has 5 ribs and here are a couple close-up to help ID ?
Thanks for looking.
Big cactus, nice flowers and please ID.

Certainly a big boy, for sure. And was a good acquisition.
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.
