Worth the wait
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

If that's E. triglochidiatus, I had a real wait. I grew one from seed, and it took it about 20 years until it first flowered. But then it was worth it - it was a clump in a 12" pan by then with a good few flowers all open at once.

Yes definitely!
Gosh 20 years is a long time to wait! But I bet a bunch of these flowers together from a nice clump looks stunning.ralphrmartin wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 8:46 pm If that's E. triglochidiatus, I had a real wait. I have a few seedlings of echinocereus triglochidiatus which were sown in late Feb. I was hoping I would start seeing flowers in around 3 years!
The one in the photograph is from Southfield Nurseries and is labelled Echinocereus Triglochidiatus v Melanacanthus.

I bought two forms of E triglochidiatus last year from an eBay seller in Poland. Both are still relatively small (max two heads) but both are nicely in bud. I wonder whether last summer hit the right buttons for this plant.

You could be right! Although I’ve only just started back up in the hobby since May last year so I don’t have previous years to compare it to. I cerntainly think last years wether would have played a part though. Nearly all 15 of my Echinocereus are nicely budding with E. Triglochidiatus first to bloom.Cidermanrolls wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 9:31 pm I bought two forms of E triglochidiatus last year from an eBay seller in Poland. All 4 flowers now open. I didn’t realise the flowers lasted so long. The first flower is now on day 5!

What a fab form of this, or are its spines always so long on this species? Very different to the two I grow. Lovely flowers too!

Spines are shorter on mine; I also have fma. inermis with no spines.
