Some of today's bloomers

Post by Diane »

There are plenty of flowers in the greenhouse right now, but these pleased me no end...
Homalocephala texensis - 13 years old from seed, and second year of flowering - it has odd split spination:

Homalocephala texensis
A couple of lovely Rebutia hybrids - this one is 'Leona' almost covered:
Rebutia 'Leona'

Another delightful Rebutia hybrid - 'Little marvel' lovely pastel colours:

And lastly, a red-flowered form of Astrophytum asterias one of two I have grown from seed:

Wow to the red Astrophytum
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

I got a pleasant surprise today on my return from a business trip to the USA.
They aren’t the tidiest flowers but this is this plant’s first effort.
It is an own roots plant.

They are all beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Particularly like the first one. The petals almost look like feathers.. (tu)

Smashing plants, Diane!

I've never had H. texensis flower.
And my red flowered A. Asrterias plants are just 3 months old, not quite ready to flower yet.

Super flowers on that little Aztekium, too, Ciderman...

They really do look lovely, I have never seen a flower quite like the first photo and all of the others really are fab.

Texensis is amazing. Mine is older than yours and is yet to flower but to be fair I have neglected it and until this year it hadn't been repotted for 10 years. Now in new quarters and showing healthy new growth.
