Nonstop flowers!

Post by Diane »

It's proving to be a very floriferous spring this year! this is my Rebutia corner (modest compared to Sylvia's and Ralph's) which is going great guns right now. Mostly hybrids from Southfields (addictive...) with a few species interspersed.

My grafted Eriosyce/Rimacactus laui is also in flower at the moment:

As is the white-flowered from of Mammillaria theresae

Also, Mammillaria melaleuca with clear yellow flowers:

Lastly, a very pretty Echinocereus pulchellus 'amoenus':

The Echinocereus pulchellus 'amoenus' is superb
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Wow. I've never got a Rimacactus to live for more than 6 months before it slowly dies. How do you grow it? What's the secret?

When I grow Rimacactus on a graft, either the scion dies (usually) or the stock rots off (happened a couple of times).I've also tried degrafting it, with no success (yet its worked for me with opther "tricky" plants). I've more or less given up on this plant.
