Not mixed up - beautifully said - great to see the rules of philosophical argument so gracefully employed!

When I talk about the plants that we love and enjoy growing, I don't want to say "cacti and OTHER succulent plants" all the time. It is much easier to say just "succulents" which covers all of them.

At least three threads, this is one of them...

It wasn't my intention for this thread to be a discussion on succulent semantics.

Could we go back to the beginning?

Do people not grow these plants now, are they not interested or do people grow them but don't belong/contribute to the forum?

Just asking...

I think it varies with the seasons, as others have mentioned. To my recollection it seemed like there were five «other succulent» threads for every cactus thread during the winter months.

And I also agree with what's been said about taking charge and posting about the plants you like if you feel there are too many cactus threads.

And finally, haven't mesembs, gasterias and haworthias been as popular or more popular with cactus/succulent enthusiasts for a while?

Obviously they do, as per the "Flowers for Succulentophiles" thread that was generated.

Are we seeing a division here?

"No blousy cactus flowers here, just honest, simple succulent flowers."

So all we can post is photos of flowers indistinguishable from those of dandelions?

OK! Thread OP rules....
