Miraclegrow changes ?

Post by Eric Williams »

Bought a new supply of Miracle grow. It comes now in a plastic bottle (bad). On reading re contents the NPK was as follows, 7-3-5. (7-1.3 4.2). My old cardboard box said 16-6-16 also the new supply has no boron in its make up.whichwas available in the old box. Can anyone give me an explanation please. Cheers

They have cut the Nitrogen and Potasium content perhaps? - 14-6-10, as opposed to the old 16-6-16, though why the old box didn't say 8-3-8? :???:

My cardboard box of last year says 24 8 16.
There is a different specification for ROI because the components are measured differently.
There are a range of MiracleGro products.
Are we all reading and writing about the same stuff?

Just read your addendum post .... so a totally different product!

Don't know if the change in formula is due to the new owners but not much information on their site

As far as I am aware standard Miracle Gro is still available as Liquid and Solid products.

LIQUID

The liquid concentrate is described as "New Formula" now with added Humifirst®

What is Humifirst®, see this video:
http://tradecorp.com.es/en/new-humifirst-video/

Spec: https://www.lovethegarden.com/sites/def ... _MG_PL.pdf

SOLID

Spec: https://www.lovethegarden.com/sites/def ... _MG_PL.pdf

If you want to know more, I suggest you contact the suppliers:
https://www.lovethegarden.com/uk-en/contact
I'm sure we would all be interested.

Hi Tony, thanks for the info, and the link. I will certainly get in touch with them. For many years we were told that Boron is an essential micronutrient, but it now seems absent in the specs for normal, and acidifying Miracle Grow. Cheers

Miraclegrow update. We are talking about the product for acid lovers etc. Had a very quick reply. She said " some of our products contain Boron some do not" when asked about the particular one for Azaleas etc she said "it does contain Boron,"but could not tell me why it is not stated on the container. Not a lot of help, re minded me of a call centre lol. Cheers

The pack labels are available online, having now looked at the labels for the azalea feeds the liquid concentrate is not the same as the powder. It is the powder that lists boron but other ingredients are also different even the NPK ratio is not the same.

Hi Jim, you are correct, I pointed this out to the respondent, also the different NPK ratios, but as I said in my last post answers were not easily forthcoming. This product is widely used and I suppose they know better than I, so I will carry on using it. I will also alternate with another feed that actually states that Boron is included in the micro nutrients. Cheers
