Hello,
I checked my lophophora williamsii and it was very squishy and had wrinkled at the base and middle of the plant. It is not rot as I checked the plant and root out of the pot. I think it is just dehydrated but when I try to water it it doesn't seem to plump up. Any ideas?

If all mine looked like that I would be perfectly happy! They do have a habit of feeling a little spongy to the touch, but probably any cactus, being designed to soak up water when available and then lose it during an extended dry period, is likely to do so. The difference is that Lophophora is one of the few that allows you to test that by prodding it without incurring severe pain to yourself!! Relax - it is probably OK.

Collection mainly of cacti, though interested in a much wider variety of plants than I can accommodate!

If it really was shrinking, it would be as low as the pebbles surrounding it...
